About Us
The Willes Center for International Entrepreneurship ("CIE" or the "Center") is located on the beautiful campus of Brigham Young University Hawai'i. The Center is a non-profit organization established to promote and teach entrepreneurship primarily in the developing economies of Asia and the Pacific. It is established as an educational and charitable foundation supported by donors and Brigham Young University Hawai'i ("BYUH").
The main office of the Center is located in Laie, Oahu, Hawai'i with distance learning facilities ("Distance Learning Centers") teaching entrepreneurship in selected cities of nations in the Asia and Pacific areas. The Center has a full time director and supporting staff that work closely with the BYUH business school faculty and CIE entrepreneur mentors, relying upon their support and assistance to implement the Center programs.
The goal of the Center is to educate and mentor budding entrepreneurs and to provide a structure that will encourage the creation of businesses started in BYUH target areas. After completing the Center's curriculum and mentoring program, either at BYUH or through a Distance Learning Center, graduates will have the tools necessary to recognize profitable business opportunities in their respective homelands. Further, because of the Distance Learning Centers, students who could never afford to attend an expensive distant university can still obtain all the skills necessary to become successful small business owners.
Through efforts of the Center, a CIE graduate will have an enlarged vision of what he or she can individually accomplish, along with the courage, assurance and confidence necessary to seek out and better their respective lives through entrepreneurship.
